International Women’s Day Q&A
This Sunday marks International Women’s Day.
While more than 100 years of progress sits behind us, the conversation is far from over. Women continue to face challenges both professionally and personally, which is why creating spaces to support, mentor and learn from one another remains so important.
This year’s theme, #GiveToGain, highlights the value of investing in women through knowledge, mentorship, opportunity and encouragement. When we share our experience and support one another’s growth, everyone benefits.
To mark the occasion, we spoke with Strategic Partnerships Director, Catherine Robb, Head of People, Laura Chapman, Chief Financial Officer Barbara Baccellieri and Business Development Manager, Kate Putnam about the advice and leadership lessons shared with them by women who have influenced their careers.

Head of People
Laura Chapman
Reflecting on a formative period early in her career, Laura shared how one leader’s coaching approach had a lasting impact on her development:
“Early in my career, I worked for a highly experienced CPO who I deeply admired. I spent two years working for her, and looking back, it was without question the most challenging, daunting, and yet rewarding period of my career and the time when I grew the most.
What stands out most on reflection is how she approached our monthly one to one meetings. They happened without fail. She was always supportive, but those conversations were tough, not in an unkind way, but in a way that genuinely stretched me mentally. Her ability to challenge through coaching questions was seamless and almost imperceptible. She pushed me to think deeply for myself while also being crystal clear about her expectations.
I had never experienced coaching like it. Her emotional intelligence was exceptional. She knew exactly how far to challenge me, sometimes to the point where I was genuinely sweating, while balancing that challenge with unwavering support. That combination is what enabled me to thrive.
I still want to be her when I grow up.”
Another piece of advice that has stayed with Laura came from a leader she greatly admired:
“Her advice was simple but powerful: ‘Hold your opinions lightly.’
That phrase still plays in my head most days, both at work and at home. It reminds me to stay objective, even when I have strong and sometimes passionate views about a situation. It helps me step back, consider different perspectives and offer more balanced, unbiased input.
It is also invaluable when working with stakeholders and decision makers. Very few people like being told what to do, but gentle encouragement, sharing a perspective, or posing a thoughtful ‘what if?’ can help others arrive at well considered decisions themselves.”

Strategic Partnerships Director
Catherine Robb
For Catherine, one piece of leadership advice continues to guide how she approaches challenges and opportunities:
“A senior leader once told me, ‘If you can see what needs to be done, don’t wait for permission to lead.’ That mindset has carried me through some of my toughest moments, stepping up, backing myself and turning challenge into growth.”

Chief Financial Officer
Barbara Baccellieri
Barbara shared a message that continues to inspire confidence and ambition:
“Dream big and work hard to make it happen. Believe in yourself as we believe in you.”

Business Development Manager
Kate Putnam
Lastly, Kate shared an important reminder:
"Trust your gut. Remember your opinion is important and if you’re in the room, voice it."
These reflections highlight the lasting impact of shared knowledge, encouragement and leadership. Sometimes a single piece of advice, a moment of mentorship or a conversation at the right time can shape the direction of someone’s career.
This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the women who share their experience, support others and lead by example, helping to create opportunities and inspire those around them.
